Organisational resiliance

Posted by: Tony Wilkinson

Organisational resilience is the ability of an organisation to anticipate, prepare for, respond and adapt to incremental change and sudden disruptions in order to survive and prosper".  Guidance is given in BS65000:2014

The current pandemic has highlighted the benefit of organisational resilience and has shown how adaptable businesses are. As Charles Darwin once said ‘It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change’ The same equally applies to business. The standard, written in 2014 covers Product, leadership, people and process. What the pandemic has shown in real time is the importance of people. By prioritising people, issues like workplace welfare, consultation & participation and innovation have come to the fore.

Home based working has presented many challenges but also several opportunities. Businesses that have embraced these changes will survive and prosper.
